Description
I knew about this new version of Weissenborn for quite a while (years, I think) before I was willing to give it a chance. I had been turned off by the price. Why would I want to pay $25-32 for a book that I can get for free from the public domain? Well… I have been converted. It really is worth the price.
Doug Spaniol has re-engraved all of Weissenborn’s Practical Bassoon Method and the music is so much easier to read! He has included fingering diagrams, up-to-date translations of the original German, edited and corrected notes throughout the volume, as well as supplementary exercises to bridge some gaps left by Weissenborn. It recently (2018) became available with a spiral binding. I’ve seen the price fluctuate between $18 and $32 over the last year. Sheet Music Plus runs a 25% off sale for method books in August. This book qualifies. You can also use some of these other money-saving techniques.
