This is a fantastic piece that isn’t played enough! It takes a quick tongue and some stamina, but it not as difficult as many other pieces that are regularly performed. It was written for bassoon and string orchestra. The string writing is heavy on the pizzicato and sounds like joy and fun rolled into one. The piano reduction is fine too, although a bit tricky to play. If you haven’t played this piece, you are really missing out. It’s one of my all-time favorites. (Larsson wrote 12 concertinos, each for a different solo instrument.)
